INTER-ASSOCIATION RALLY 2008
Forth Bridges Rally
organised by EUMSC, HBCC & SCCMC
8th November 2008
The 2008 Inter-Association Navigation Rally Challenge will be jointly organised by Edinburgh University Motorsport Club, Hawick and Border Car Club Ltd and Scotia Cross Country Motorsport Club on behalf of East of Scotland Association of Car Clubs (ESACC). The event will be held provisionally on 8th November 2008. The Rally will be of a similar format to championship events in Scotland, and be familiar to crews who competed in the last running of the Inter-Association Rally, in 2002.
The rally will have a route of approximately 150-200 competitive miles. The bulk of the event will comprise of Standard Navigational Sections on public roads. There will also be at least one Special Test, held off road and timed to the second, which will be used solely for tie-break purposes. There may also be a Regularity Section for the same purpose, also timed to the second but held on the public roads. In each section between Time Controls there will be manned secret checks, where the crews’ direction and time of passing will be recorded.
Timing is accurate to the whole minute. First car will be leaving rally HQ around 11pm Saturday night and will be back by around 6am Sunday morning.
The rally will be run under a National B Navigational Rally Permit. Competitors must have a National B licence in order to compete. Cars need only comply with the relevant points in the MSA Blue Book [K21.1(d)] i.e. noise regulations, maximum of four forward facing beams and no advertising. Insurance will be with Alexander Forbes.
??? Hotel will be rally HQ, with the roads around Fife, Lothians and Borders being used for the competitive sections. These roads are excellent navigation rally roads, with tight country lanes and a huge number of junctions.
The roads are of a good surface and will not be hard on cars. The difficulty comes in finding the correct route, and then sticking to the set average speed.
